RV retail sales are certainly booming. In 2021, the number of units sold is projected to be at an all-time high, according to numbers from Statistical Surveys Incorporated.

RV industry expert Steve Long says that there are several reasons for this surge. "Low-cost travel is certainly a major one.  The economy has been in a tough spot for some time now, and it is nice to be able to get away from the day-to-day without having to join up with a group or plan an expensive vacation," he says.

But, the RV industry isn't just selling more units, it's also doing so at higher prices than ever before. The average price for an RV this year is $67,250, which represents a 7.5% increase from 2018.

Thanks to the affordable financing options available through RV manufacturers, more Americans are able to afford RVs than ever before. Some buyers are even purchasing new units on credit at interest rates as low as 3%.

Many of these owners aren't camping out in their purchases either; some are even selling them on to other buyers. Some online RV sellers like GoRVing.com are reporting that they're seeing RVs sell for more than their original purchase price within months of the initial sale.

The increase in demand is having a notable effect on retailers too; there are quite a few new businesses opening up around America to take advantage of the growing market. In fact, RV-centric businesses have been among some of the fastest growing small businesses in the country over the last few years.

The industry as a whole grew more than 28% from 2010 through 2017, and it's projected to continue its upward trend throughout the next decade.

"It's very exciting to be a part of the RV manufacturing industry right now," states Long, and he isn’t wrong.
